This workshop is one of the most popular and is requested by dance instructors and studio owners to assist their students in attaining better technique. This is a two hour long, fun workshop designed to educate the dancer on anatomical points in relation to movement. Understanding which muscles contract, to attain dance movement is key in improving technique. The workshop starts out with a body placement presentation; how to understand it, how to teach it, how to feel it! This is important in reducing injuries that occur from faulty trunk placement. A dance specific floor barre focusing on core stability and ballet technique in a non-weight bearing position follows. The dancers then progress to the barre. During each exercise the primary muscles used will be discussed, including origination, insertion and their action. The exercises are broken down and detail is focused on the muscles that are responsible for the movement. A portion of the barre is performed barefoot to emphasize proper action of the feet in relation to lower leg alignment.
