Workshop: Nutrition for the Young Dancer

Are you eating enough? Are you eating too much? Are you eating the right foods, and are you eating them at the right times? Are you eating safe snacks? Do you know that eating the right foods can help prevent dance injuries? These are all questions young dancers and even adults have every day. Good food choices and healthy eating habits are important to learn as an adolescent, because it is important to know in order to achieve peak health and dance fitness. Food choices also affect energy levels, body composition and performance. Most young dancers eat on the go from one dance class to the next, or grab a small snack between rehearsals. Your body needs fuel to dance at its best, and your food choices give your body that fuel.

This workshop will teach you the basic differences between proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, and why you need all of them. This workshop also includes discussion on importance of water and calcium to help in hydration and strong bones, as well as stressing the importance on consuming sufficient calories to support your energy output. We will teach you how to practice good nutrition for your peak health and dance performance. You will be refueled and ready to go to begin achieving your health & performance goals.
